A little About Us:
At Tanis ClockWorks, every watch is meticulously hand-assembled in my studio in Bradenton, Florida. Each timepiece starts as an idea and comes to life through carefully sourced components—the case, crystal, movement, dial, hands, and strap or bracelet. To elevate every build, all movements are hand-regulated on our in-house Timegrapher for exceptional precision. The inspiration for Tanis ClockWorks began when I was searching for a retirement gift for an employee. I had some corporate recognition points to spend and thought a high-quality watch would be the perfect choice. But after researching and trying on various models, I realized that the watches I truly liked were just outside my budget. On the open market, the pieces that caught my eye were often hundreds, sometimes thousands, more than I was willing to spend. As I continued my search, dozens of microbrands started appearing on my radar—some offering familiar features, others with refreshing new ideas. Eventually, I came across “build-your-own” watch platforms, and something clicked. I’m in my 50s, my hands aren’t as steady as they once were, and my vision definitely relies on progressive lenses and the zoom on my phone—but I thought, why not give it a try?So I built my first watch. And to my surprise, I loved it. Sourcing the components was fun, collecting the parts was exciting, and the assembly—while absolutely exhausting—was incredibly rewarding. At Tanis ClockWorks, we focus on modified, homage, one-of-a-kind builds—not replicas. It may seem like a gray area, but to me the distinction is clear. When I finish a watch, I know it’s exactly what I envisioned—and I know that no one else in the world has the same piece.
