A little About Us:
At Tanis ClockWorks, each watch is meticulously hand-assembled right here in my studio in Bradenton, Florida. Every timepiece begins with an idea and is built through a carefully sourced collaboration. We hand-select each component—the case, crystal, movement, dial, hands, and strap or bracelet. To further set us apart, all of our watch movements are hand-regulated using our in-house Timegrapher for unmatched precision. The inspiration for Tanis ClockWorks came about when I was searching for a retirement gift for an employee. I had some corporate recognition points to use in a company catalog, and thought a high-quality watch would make a great gift. However, after researching and trying on various options, I found that the ones I liked were always just a bit beyond my budget. On the open market, the watches I admired were often hundreds or even thousands of dollars more than I was willing to spend. As I continued exploring, dozens of microbrands began to pop up on my radar, and I noticed both familiar features and a few unique elements. Eventually, I stumbled upon "build-your-own" watch websites, and the idea clicked. I’m in my 50s, and while my hands aren’t as steady as they used to be and my vision isn't what it once was (I rely on progressive lenses and my phone's camera for a little extra magnification), I figured, why not give it a shot? So, I decided to try building my own watch. To my surprise, I really enjoyed the process. Sourcing the components was fun, gathering the parts was exciting, and the actual assembly, though exhausting, was incredibly rewarding. At Tanis ClockWorks, we focus on creating modified, homage, one-of-a-kind pieces—not replicas. Though it may seem like a gray area, there is a clear difference. When I finish a watch, I know it’s exactly what I set out to create, and I can be sure that no one else, anywhere, will have the same timepiece.
